Verification

In this article, we will guide you through the steps required to verify your identity and your license to practice in Doctolib Connect so that you can fully benefit from all its features.

Prerequisites

Submitting your information takes just a minute. Once received, your account will typically be verified within 2 – 4 days, though we always strive to complete the process sooner.

We need 2 pieces of information:

  • Your ID document: a passport or other government-issued ID (driver’s license, ID card, or residence permit). For the best scan experience, we recommend a passport, as most include an NFC chip. Some IDs may require photos of both the front and back.
  • Your registration number: your registration number from your country’s healthcare register. If your country does not have a central registry, you can provide proof of your professional status via our Team Doctolib Connect chat. Accepted proof includes a government-issued doctor card, a diploma, or an employer ID.

We only use this information for this one-time verification. Afterwards, we delete all information of your ID document.

Complete my identity verification

  1. Start by opening the Doctolib Connect mobile application
  2. Go to the Profile section
  3. Scroll down to the Get verified section
  4. Click on Start verification.
  5. Select your country
  6. Complete the verification process:

- Photo: verification starts with a photo of your ID. In some cases, a photo of the back side may also be required.

- NFC Scan: hold your ID against the back of your phone to scan its chip. If your ID has no chip, this step is skipped.

- Liveness Check: to verify that you are a real person, take a selfie and tilt your head during a short video scan. If the NFC scan was successful, this step is skipped.

- Healthcare Professional Verification: enter your registration number or upload a photo of your employer ID or diploma.

Why we verify our users?

Doctolib Connect is a trusted network for healthcare professionals. When discussing patient care, it is essential to be certain that the person you are communicating with is who they claim to be.

We ensure that all users who complete our verification process are verified based on their identity and, where applicable, their medical registration number. Once the verification process is complete, your verified status will be displayed on your profile, and you’ll be able to access the Doctolib Connect medical directory.

Vérification levels

There are 3 verification statuses associated with an individual’s profile:

  • Your identity is currently unverified. If your professional information has not yet been verified, the label unverified” will appear on your profile and be visible to other users. During this time, details such as your profession, specialisation, and title will not be displayed, and your profile photo will be blurred. Once your identity and, if applicable, your license to practice have been verified, your profile will be fully visible.
  • Identity verified, right to practice pending: If your identity has been verified but your right to practice has not, your photo will be visible to other users of Doctolib Connect, but the grey “?” will still be displayed. Your profession will remain visible, and the label Unverified” will be shown.
  • Right to practice verified. Once your identity and your medical license have been verified, a blue shield will appear next to your profile photo, and your profession, specialisation and title will be displayed.
  • Identity verified. If the right to practice does not apply to you but your identity has been verified, your profile photo and profession will be visible to all other users. The grey “?” will not appear on your profile photo.

Where can I find the verification status summary?

A summary of your verification status will be displayed in your profile, just below your photo. This lets other users know whether your identity has been verified and, where applicable, your right to practice.

  • This user has not completed their identity or right to practice verification yet
  • This user has completed their identity verification
  • This user has verified both his identity and his right to practice at Doctolib Connect

Data usage and privacy

Your information is used only to verify your identity and professional status on Connect. This includes ID photos, NFC scan data, and Liveness Check videos. All data is permanently deleted after 30 days, or sooner if you contact Team Connect.

We take data privacy and security seriously. Your ID data never leaves Connect and is protected according to GDPR, ISO 27001, and other relevant standards, with external audits and strict internal processes in place.

You can hide parts of your ID if you wish. We only require your first name, last name, gender, ID photo, and expiration date. Other details, such as document number or height, can be covered with paper, tape, or your fingers. You can also skip the NFC scan by tapping Cancel and complete the Liveness Check instead.

Scanning the (NFC) chip does not work.

This sometimes happens because the chip inside the document is too weak or the signal is blocked by a phone case. If it does not work, cancel the NFC reading and proceed with the Liveness Check instead.

Some tips when trying scan your chip:

  • The chip reader in your phone is usually located in the upper part of your phone at the backside. This must be placed against your document
  • For passports, the chip is usually located within the thick plastic page, typically printed with your information on one side
  • Physically place your phone against the document
  • Remove your phone case (if you have one) when scanning

Why do I have to take a video or photo of myself?

We compare the photo on your ID with the selfie you take to verify that you are a real, live person.
